About Us
Pranam Yoga Joseph
At Pranam Yoga Joseph, we aspire to share an authentic, in-depth, life-changing experience of Yoga. We are a Yoga School in South India, founded by Joseph Konnoth in 1988 and now runned by himself and his son, Joyal. Our school specializes in Hatha Yoga with more than 3 decades of experience. We are affiliated with Yoga Alliance, the global organization of Yoga. Whether you want to join a Yoga Teacher Training in Varkala , a Yoga workshop or simply attend one of our daily drop-in classes , we make sure your Yoga experience will be pleasant and unique. Our sole purpose is to pass on our passion and knowledge in Hatha Yoga to anybody who comes to our class. We guide people into deepening their practice, and open the path of teaching for them by showing how Yoga is a way of living.

Our Approach – What Makes Us Unique
We have been expanding our school for 4 decades, based on the passion we share. We keep deepening our skills in teaching through our own experience of Yoga, whether it is by sharing our knowledge with others, or by practicing it ourselves. We focus only on Hatha Yoga, because we would rather pass on a knowledge that we truly master, rather than teaching different styles and not being able to truly go deep into it within a short period of time. We design our classes to offer a traditional Hatha Yoga approach with a modern and dynamic touch. Our Asana teachers build their classes based on their own daily practice, making sure to give the best of themselves in each class as a teacher. Our school is a small family that aims to share a piece of their lifestyle and passion with people from all over the world. To make your experience unique, we limit spots for our Workshops, Drop-in Classes and Yoga Teacher Training Courses . We want our students to be part of our family, and give each teacher the opportunity to give particular attention to each person that comes to our school.
What Students Can Expect
Whether you want to join a Drop-in Classes or a Yoga Teacher Training Courses , we will make sure to welcome you as someone who is part of our school. Be assured you will always be guided to push your body and mental limits by our Asana teachers, taking you to the best version of your Yoga practice. Not just the physical part, we honour the spectrum of the eight limbs of yoga, creating space for transformation on every level: mental and spiritual as much as physical. Coming to our school means taking part in a human experience and stepping into south indian culture. We welcome each of our students as if they were a member of our family, making sure to offer them the most of each class, so they walk out of our school with new knowledge every time.
Our Story - a legacy of teaching
Pranam Yoga Joseph was founded by TA Raman ASAN, a Guru who was based in Cochin. At that time, Pranam Yoga Joseph was known as Cochin Institute of Yoga Asanas. In 1988, TA Raman Asan passed on a branch of Cochin Institute Of Yoga Asanas to his student Joseph Konnoth.
Joseph began practicing Hatha Yoga in 1981, at the age of 20. With the guidance of his Guru and through years of dedicated self-practice, Yoga soon became the foundation of his life. He has remained committed to the path ever since.
At the age of 23, he started teaching yoga classes in Cochin. After 7 years, he took over his Guru’s school, Cochin Institute Of Yoga Asanas, and kept teaching throughout the years. Later on, in 2007 he gave the name Pranam Yoga Joseph to his school and moved to Varkala a few years after that, he established his school. He started by offering

In 2020, he started teaching in different schools and later on in 2021, he joined his father to share the passion of yoga to others.
