At Pranam Yoga Joseph, our teaching team is made up of experienced teachers who have dedicated years to studying and practicing their specific fields of yoga. Joseph and Joyal lead the asana, alignment, and teaching methodology sessions, while our extended yoga faculty guides philosophy, pranayama, meditation, anatomy, Ayurveda, and mantra. Joseph Konnoth

Founder & Asana Teacher

Joseph began practicing Hatha Yoga in 1981 at the age of 20. What started as a personal exploration gradually became a lifelong path rooted in discipline, self-study, and guidance from his Guru. Over the decades, Joseph deepened his understanding through consistent practice and by teaching students from all over the world through authentic yoga teacher training programs in Kerala.

As an experienced Hatha Yoga teacher, his approach is steady, grounded, and non-dogmatic, shaped by more than 35 years of uninterrupted teaching. Joseph teaches with quiet presence, clarity, and deep respect for the traditional foundations of Hatha Yoga. For him, yoga is not a performance, it is a way of living with awareness, sincerity, and connection to authentic yoga practice.

Joyal George

Lead Teacher

Growing up in a yoga-centered family, Joyal was introduced to yogic practices from an early age by his father, Joseph. What began as curiosity and imitation gradually evolved into a dedicated journey of learning and self-practice. Over the years, Joyal continued his studies across different parts of India, deepening his understanding of yogic philosophy, functional anatomy, movement awareness, and mindful living.

After completing his training, he chose to pursue yoga as a full-time path and has been teaching since 2019. As a dedicated yoga instructor in Kerala, Joyal’s classes emphasize proper alignment, intelligent sequencing, and helping students understand the purpose behind each posture and technique. His teaching style combines classical yogic principles with a practical and approachable method, creating a supportive learning environment that feels accessible, safe, and engaging for students of all experience levels.

Sunil

Philosophy Teacher

Sunil graduated from D.B. College Sasthamcotta and began his formal yogic studies in 1985 at the Sivagiri Mutt in Varkala, where he completed the seven-year “Brahmavidya Acharya” program. His first yoga lessons came from Swami Samprasadanda of the Ramakrishna Mission, whose guidance inspired him to pursue deeper training.

Sunil completed the Sivananda Teacher Training Course at Neyyar Dam in 1995, along with the Sadhana Intensive Course the same year, followed by the Advanced Teacher Training in 1996. With decades of yoga philosophy studies and practice, he brings depth, clarity, and traditional wisdom to every session. His classes help students explore the deeper meaning of yogic philosophy, making ancient teachings relevant, practical, and accessible beyond the physical practice of yoga.

Shajahan

Pranayama & Meditation Teacher

Shajahan has been teaching for over 16 years and brings a calm, compassionate presence to his pranayama and meditation classes. His work focuses on guiding students toward inner balance, clarity, and self-awareness through practices such as breathwork, mantra, yoga nidra, and meditative techniques.

As an experienced pranayama and meditation teacher, he designs each class to support the unique needs of the group, helping students experience the emotional, mental, and energetic benefits of mindful breathing and meditation practice. His teaching approach makes traditional yogic techniques feel practical, grounding, and accessible for modern practitioners.

Dr. Anish

Anatomy & Ayurveda Teacher

Dr. Anish is an Ayurvedic physician who began his Ayurvedacharya (BAMS) studies in 2006 and graduated from Kerala University in 2012. He continued his learning under respected traditional teachers, developing a strong foundation in both classical Ayurveda and modern medical understanding.

As an experienced Ayurveda and yoga anatomy teacher, he shares his knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and Ayurvedic principles through the lens of yoga practice. His classes help students understand body structure, movement patterns, breath awareness, and the physiological effects of asanas and pranayama. By combining medical expertise with practical yoga application, Dr. Anish creates a deeper and more informed learning experience for yoga practitioners and aspiring teachers.
