Our Teaching Team
At Pranam Yoga Joseph, each subject is taught by a teacher who has dedicated years to studying and practicing that specific field. Joseph and Joyal lead the asana, alignment, and teaching methodology, while our extended faculty guides philosophy, pranayama, meditation, anatomy, Ayurveda, and mantra. This allows every student to learn directly from someone who specializes deeply in their tradition, creating a complete and well-rounded training.
Joseph Konnoth
Founder & Asana Teacher
Joseph began practicing Hatha Yoga in 1981 at the age of 20. What started as a personal exploration gradually became a lifelong path rooted in discipline, self-study, and guidance from his Guru. Over the decades, Joseph deepened his understanding through consistent practice and by teaching students from all over the world.
His approach is steady, grounded, and non-dogmatic, shaped by more than 35 years of uninterrupted teaching. Joseph teaches with quiet presence, clarity, and a deep respect for the traditional foundations of Hatha Yoga. For him, yoga is not performance, it is a way of living with awareness and sincerity
Joyal George
Lead Teacher
Growing up in a yoga home, Joyal was introduced to yogic practices from an early age by his father, Joseph. What began as imitation and curiosity eventually became a dedicated path of study and practice. Joyal continued his learning across different regions of India, gaining a deeper understanding of yogic culture, anatomy, and practical application.
After completing his studies, he chose to follow yoga as a full-time profession and has been teaching since 2019. Joyal’s classes focus on alignment, intelligent sequencing, and helping students understand the “why” behind the practice. His teaching blends tradition with a clear, modern approach, making complex concepts accessible and safe for all levels.
Sunil
Philosophy Teacher
Sunil graduated from D.B. College Sasthamcotta and began his formal yogic studies in 1985 at the Sivagiri Mutt in Varkala, where he completed the seven-year “Brahmavidya Acharya” program. His first yoga lessons came from Swami Samprasadanda of the Ramakrishna Mission, whose guidance inspired him to pursue deeper training.
Sunil completed the Sivananda Teacher Training Course at Neyyar Dam in 1995, along with the Sadhana Intensive Course the same year, followed by the Advanced Teacher Training in 1996. With decades of study and practice, he brings depth, clarity, and authenticity to the philosophy classes, helping students understand yoga beyond the physical level.
Shajahan
Pranayama & Meditation Teacher
Shajahan has been teaching for over 16 years and brings a calm, compassionate presence to his pranayama and meditation classes. His work focuses on guiding students toward inner balance, clarity, and self-awareness through practices such as breathwork, mantra, yoga nidra, and meditative techniques.
He designs each class to support the needs of the group, helping students experience the mental and energetic benefits of traditional yogic practices in a practical, accessible way.
Dr. Anish
Anatomy & Ayurveda Teacher
Dr. Anish is an Ayurvedic physician who began his Ayurvedacharya (BAMS) studies in 2006 and graduated from Kerala University in 2012. He continued learning under respected traditional teachers, gaining both scientific and classical Ayurvedic knowledge.
He shares his understanding of anatomy, physiology, and Ayurveda through the lens of yoga practice, helping students understand the body’s structure, movement patterns, and the physiological impact of asanas and pranayama. His teaching combines medical expertise with the practical needs of yoga practitioners and future teachers.
